CLIMATE PROOFING YOUR INVESTMENTS: MOVING FUNDS OUT OF FOSSIL FUELS
The Balanced Enterprise Research Network, in association with 350.org, Market Forces and the Australia Institute, is pleased to host a panel discussion on the potential for fossil free investment. This event will aim to stimulate discussion about the connection between consumers’ finances, climate change and fossil fuels, and practical steps that individuals can take to go fossil free.
Panellists will include:
Tim Buckley, Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis
Tim has 25 years of financial markets experience, having spent the majority of this time as a top-rated equities research analyst in Australia, with some time covering global and Asian equity markets. Tim is co-founder and managing director of Arkx Investment Management, an investor in leading global-listed clean energy companies. Additionally, Arkx consults in the low carbon finance sector, providing an international perspective into the Australian market. Tim was with Citigroup for 17 years, culminating in his role as Managing Director and Head of Australasian Equity Research for the last six years.
Tom Swann, The Australia Institute
Tom is researcher at the Australia Institute, working on fossil fuel divestment and other topics. He is student in the Master of Climate Change program at the ANU, focusing on policy and politics, and conducting research into the political economy of unburnable carbon.
Trevor Thomas, EthInvest
Trevor joined Ethinvest in 1997 having just returned from 6 years in South America working in economic development. Prior to that he was employed as an economist with one of Australia’s major banks and AP Dow Jones Telerate. Trevor graduated in Economics at Sydney University and has an MBA from Eastern University in Philadelphia. He was awarded Certified Financial Planner status having completed the Deakin University program in 2003. Trevor is currently a Trustee of the John T Reid Charitable Trusts and the Ross Knowles Foundation and assists a number of charitable trusts and not for profit organisations with their investment strategies.
The event will be introduced by Professor Christopher Wright, Leader of the Balanced Enterprise Research Network and Charlie Wood of 350.org.
