Multispecies justice requires us to reconceptualise how we consider justice such that it is able to encapsulate the breadth of the multispecies world. This reading group will examine the distinctions between how we consider justice for humans, animals and the environment.

As part of the new FASS research theme of Multispecies Justice, the Sydney Environment Institute and the Multispecies Justice team are coordinating this interdisciplinary higher degree research reading group. This group – open to University of Sydney post-graduate and honours students – will discuss texts which span the fields of environmentalism, policy, ethics, justice theory and human, animal and environmental rights.

Join us as we attempt to redefine understandings and practices of justice in a way that is sufficiently expansive to cater to the diverse multispecies community.

Readings will be circulated to registered participants two weeks prior to each gathering.
