An exhibition that looks at environmentally conscious lifestyles ‘outside the square’.
As part of the User Generated Architecture exhibition at Tin Sheds Gallery (running until November 15th) Cities Node Convenor, Lee Stickells has curated an exhibition entitled Not Quite Square.
“It focuses on the development, after the 1973 Aquarius Festival in Nimbin, of an owner-builder culture in the Northern Rivers region of NSW – a culture that was very much focused on building and living more sustainably, but felt the need to do this outside of conventional planning, development and construction systems. The houses built were often small-scale, radical experiments in more environmentally conscious lifestyles ‘outside the square’.”
