Addressing imbalances in the experience of environmental damage.

‘Justice’ highlights the inequity and disparity in the distribution and experience of environmental damage on vulnerable communities. Environmental and climate justice studies at the Sydney Environment Institute focus on this inequality, but also on ways of addressing environmental injustice in the development of policy through:

  • Cultural respect, recognition, and inclusion
  • Improved political engagement, participation, and procedures
  • A focus on the provision of the basic needs and capabilities of individuals and communities.
